History
Lakewood Camping Resort is a Family Campground. Lakewood is a place of beauty, harmony and one of the most tranquil atmospheres you will ever find!
What seemed the impossible dream became a remarkable accomplishment in 1959 when Carl and Marion Perry developed Camp Beachwood. Beachwood was a tiny, 125-site campground. Eventually that investment lead the Perry’s to open Lakewood Camping Resort. Lakewood was the first oceanfront campground on the south end of the Grand Strand. It was the only resort of it’s kind offering customers a resort experience for only a fraction of the price of staying in a hotel.

Today the family investment has grown to 1,100 campsites and 85 Villas. With luxurious amenities spread across 200 acres of oceanfront prime real estate, Lakewood has grown to be the 8th largest camping resort in the world. The resort is nestled along a half mile stretch of sandy beach in South Carolina's favorite family town, Myrtle Beach.
