Ministry
Welcome! Lakewood Camping Resort has grown into a year-round ministry organization with many varied opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are excited to offer Christian based programs for your whole family to enjoy while on vacation at Lakewood Camping Resort. What a better way to worship in the beauty of "HIS" holiness than to have fun on the shore of the beautiful ocean, relax by the calm lakeside, enjoy the quietness of the tall pines and the grand live oak trees.
Whether you are seeking a deeper spiritual walk through bible study, praise and music or developing deeper relationships with friends and family in fun and wholesome activities ... you're sure to experience a life-changing, memorable vacation while visiting Lakewood. We want to call you "friend"!
How the ministry came to be, the vision of Carl & Marion Perry
It has always been the belief of the Perry Family that Lakewood Campground was a home mission field that was "white unto harvest". When Marion and Carl Perry were led to open the first privately owned campground in Myrtle Beach in 1959, they initially believed they were embarking on a new business venture. However, it didn't take them long to realize that their family-owned business was just a vehicle that God was going to use to accomplish His goals. Mr. and Mrs. Perry grasped the vision that they were to be stewards of the new property that God had entrusted to them and to operate a Christian-oriented campground that offered campers a place to come and find good family values and an environment that promoted Christian ideals. They also saw the opporunity to share the gospel in a casual environment with many adults and children who may never enter into a formal worship setting. So, on January 10, 1972 they chartered "Lakewood Camprgound Ministry". The ministry is a non-profit ministry.
Ministry Services: The Lakewood Campground Ministry offers something for everyone no matter what time of year it is. From teen pizza parties and pool games to Family days the ministry department always has something planned. The purpose of the ministry is to "minister the word of God for the purpose of salvation of the lost and the edification of the saints, the proclamation of God's saving grace expressed in the shed of blood and finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary, the promotion of Godly worship, and cooperation with Christian activity and churches functioning in harmony with God's Holy Word - The Bible- until He comes."
