Lakewood Security Guard Retires at age 88 - Aug 9, 2007

Jon Dougherty began his second career in life at Lakewood Camping Resort as a secuirty guard.  He came onboard in 1991 after moving into the campground full-time.  Jon came to work for the resort because he says, "I always camped here and loved it because Lakewood is a family place, it's great for kids."  Before his career in security Jon worked as an Area Supervisor in a Chemical Plant.  He retired after 25 years.

Since 1991 you could find him standing at the security gate at Lakewood Camping Resort greeting campers as they arrive or riding around the resort in his golf cart.  His team in the security office say they will miss him.  Max Cannon has worked with Jon since 1991 and says, "he is a true friend and I will miss working with him, but I will still see him because he lives near me."  Both Cannon and Dougherty are permanent residents at Lakewood Camping Resort.

This week Jon decided it was time to retire after 16 years.  He says he will spend his time landscaping in his yard and playing with his great grand children.
