LAKEWOOD HONORS EMPLOYEES - Nov 26, 2008

On November 22nd more than 200 employees and guests assembled at the Lakewood Camping Resort Conference Center for the 2008 annual Lakewood Christmas Party.  It is a tradition at Lakewood that the employee Christmas party is held before Thanksgiving to honor employees for their service and dedication to the resort.

This years theme was "An Old Fashioned Lakewood Christmas".  The Conference Center was transformed into a Christmas Wonderland with decorations, a living room setup on stage with a fireplace, an old juke box and a replica tin roof pavilion for the serving line and another tin roof pavilion at the entrance door.  Movies like "It's A Wonderful Life" and "White Christmas" were shown on the Big Screen in the background during the festivities.  Family pictures were taken by a professional photographer in front of the old fashioned Juke-Box that was set up inside the old barn-wood lean-to and the food serving line was under the tin roof pavilion which were all built inside the conference center.  The food was catered by the Lakewood Conference Center & Chef Claude.  The "50" years Ice Sculpture was also carved by Chef Claude.

The four hour party included dinner, a Christmas exchange, family portraits and an awards ceremony.  Lakewood recognized employees who have worked for the company for more than a decade.  Engraved crystal awards were given out for the following years of service: 10 Years, 15 Years, 20 Years, 25 Years, 30 Years and even 35 plus years!  The employee of the year award, which is voted on by the employees,  was awarded this year to  Velma Jacobs.

The younger children were invited to gather-round the fireplace on stage for a "Christmas Story".  Rev. Jimmy Morse told them the "Candy Cane" Christmas story and candy canes were handed out by the children afterwards.

The 2008 party was hosted by Shannon and Gary Gomer and all decorations and setup were done by Lakewood personnel.

A very special thanks to all those who helped make the 2008 party a great success.
